On 21 February 2021, John passed away peacefully at his home after a long illness.

He was the dearly loved husband of Jennifer, much-loved father of Carol, Andrew and Christine, father-in-law to Stuart, Annalee and Colin, grandfather to Julie, Justin, Emma and Joe, great-grandfather to Lewis, Adam, Amelia, Grace and Theo. He will be sadly missed by them and the wider Stait and Broughall families.
