On 31st December 2025, Albert E Hicks Ltd Funeral Directors of Grafton House, Grafton Road, Newport closed following the retirement of its director, David Hicks and his long-serving colleague, Ivy Jones.
In order to ensure continuity of care, arrangements were put in place for any cremated remains (ashes), which were still being looked after by Albert E Hicks, to be transferred to our funeral home, along with any associated records. Arrangements to collect or bury these ashes can be made directly with us, by the person who was in charge of the funeral arrangements or their surviving next of kin.
Any funeral plans either arranged with Albert E Hicks, or assigned to them, would be transferred by the particular funeral plan company which holds the records and the funds, to another funeral director. The plan company would normally communicate these arrangements directly with the plan holder. Many of these funeral plans have been transferred to us as the local independent funeral director.
