Help & Advice:
Registering a Death

The death is required to be registered in the district where the person died not necessarily where they lived. It is best to book an appointment with the Registrar in order to minimise waiting times and delays. Please note, this should be completed within five days of the person passing away.

It is advisable that the Next of Kin registers the death or a close family member or executor.

Please inform the Registrar of the number of death certificates you require. There is a charge per copy. Please bear in mind that most organisations will require sight of an official copy but will then return it to the family.
